The following reports provide statistical summaries of Form 5500 data on group health plans that are required to file a Form 5500 including plan counts, participant counts, and financial totals. In addition to these statistical summaries, group health plans are also classified as self-, mixed-, or fully-insured based on an imputation method discussed at more length in each report. These reports additionally serve as appendices to the Annual Reports on Self-Insured Group Health Plans mandated by Congress. Note that there are two 2008 reports, reflecting an important methodological change. For more information, see the technical note included with the January 2012 update.
EBSA annually produces auxiliary data focused on characteristics of employer-sponsored insurance. This data, when linked to the March Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the Current Population Survey (March CPS), generates estimates of the number of individuals with different types of insurance coverage. The data in the auxiliary file is primarily imputed from other datasets.
