A free outreach webinar to help workers in all industries know and exercise their rights in the workplace.  The Wage and Hour Division is committed to protecting all workers in the U.S., including low-wage and immigrant workers who are among the most at risk. Most employers provide safe workplaces, comply with labor laws, and take their responsibilities seriously. However, there are some workers who are denied the basic rights afforded them under federal labor laws.

Most employers are required to pay minimum wage and overtime to workers in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. Some employers are required to provide medical leave to eligible workers under the Family and Medical Leave Act. This free webinar is being offered by the US Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division to help workers understand how they are protected by federal labor laws how to exercise their rights in the workplace.

Some employers are required to provide medical leave to eligible workers under the Family and Medical Leave Act. This free webinar is being offered by the US Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division to assist advocacy group representatives understand federal labor laws and expand their ability to help clients  who may have had their workplace rights violated. 

The Wage and Hour Division is committed to protecting all workers in the U.S., including low-wage and immigrant workers who are among the most at risk. Most employers provide safe workplaces, comply with labor laws, and take their responsibilities seriously. However, there are some workers who are denied the basic rights afforded them under federal labor laws.
One of WHD's main objectives is educating worker advocates and others who regularly interact with at-risk workers, enabling them to more effectively guide workers who need WHD assistance. Exploited workers, for a variety of reasons, may not contact DOL or are hesitant to do so, making it difficult to get them the information and help they need. Join this webinar to help close this gap between workers who need help and the federal agency that is charged with ensuring their workplace rights.

SCA: Labor Standards for Service Contracts

A free compliance assistance webinar for employers providing services to the Federal Government under the Service Contracts Act.  The McNamara-O'Hara Service Contracts Act (SCA) requires contractors and subcontractors performing services under prime contracts in excess of $2,500 to pay service employees in various classes no less than the wage rates and fringe benefits found prevailing in the locality, or the rates (including prospective increases) contained in a predecessor contractor’s collective bargaining agreement. This act applies only to contracts for services awarded by the federal or District of Columbia governments.


This webinar will focus on labor standards required under the Service Contracts Act,  including prevailing wages and fringe benefits, conformances, executive orders,  overtime and allowed exemptions.

Essential Workers – Essential Protections: Webinar for Union Members and Representatives

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and Occupational Safety and Health Administration protect the workplace rights of essential workers who are keeping our country moving forward during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Workers in grocery stores, health care, delivery services, retail establishments, agriculture, construction and other essential industries have remained on the job despite many potential risks to their own health or that of their families. Both the Wage and Hour Division and OSHA are  committed to ensuring that these, and all workers, receive the workplace protections provided under the law. 

Rapid changes in the workplace have surfaced many questions for workers, their advocates, and employers about safety, wages, hours worked, and time off for workers or their family members dealing with serious illness.  The Fair Labor Standards Act,  the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 provide protections for workers that may be more crucial now than ever before.

The Wage and Hour Division and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are pleased to offer a special training for union members and representatives on these critical workplace protections through our Essential Workers - Essential Protections Initiative. This special event is for union members and representatives based in the Southeast (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee) Region.
