Consistency of Large Employer and Group Health Plan Benefits with Requirements of the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008

This document is about an analysis of how health plans and insurers have responded to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act in the first years after its effective date. The study examines the use of financial requirements, treatment limitations, non-quantitative treatment limitations, separate deductibles, and other factors to assess compliance with the parity law among large employer-sponsored group health plans and health insurance coverage offered in connection with such plans.
