This document is about the agenda, topics, and background information for the 1998 National Summit on Retirement Savings. It covers the current state of retirement savings and education, barriers to retirement savings for both employers and employees, opportunities to increase retirement savings, and outreach activities by the public and private sectors to promote retirement savings. The summit was established by the Savings Are Vital to Everyone's Retirement (SAVER) Act of 1997 to address the growing need for Americans to take personal responsibility for their retirement savings.
