This document is the report from the 2015 ERISA Advisory Council to the Secretary of Labor on developing sample participant communications and educational materials for plan sponsors to promote lifetime plan participation. The report includes recommendations for the Department of Labor to publish sample communications and provide tips to plan sponsors on plan design features that can encourage participants to maintain their retirement savings in employer-sponsored plans.
