Black Veteran Employment Barriers and Interventions (Virtual) – Hosted by CEO and VETS

The current body of research—though incomplete—suggests some key challenges, factors, and strategies to be considered in designing services and supports for Black service members and veterans in their transition from military to civilian employment.  This session will present literature review findings on services and interventions that support Black veterans’ employment and career success, reduce employment barriers, and identify gaps in the existing research base as well as opportunities and priorities for bridging the gaps.

DOL Research Roundtable: Current State of Black Veteran Employment

The U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Chief Evaluation Office (CEO) and Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) are pleased to invite you to the second of three sessions in a series of research roundtables on Black Veteran employment barriers and interventions. The current body of research—though incomplete—suggests key challenges, factors, and strategies to be considered in designing services and supports for Black service members and Veterans in their transition from military to civilian employment.

A panel of subject matter experts together discuss the current state of research in the field, identify promising practices that can be applied more widely, and consider potential research avenues to support Black Veteran employment outcomes and career success within the civilian labor force. Key topics to be presented include:
• Research findings on Black Veteran employment and the factors that impact Black Veteran employment—including, but not limited to: occupational concentration, social capital, discharge status, justice-involvement, and homelessness.
• Services that help reduce employment barriers for Black Veterans.
• Gaps in the existing research base and opportunities and priorities for bridging the gaps.

OFCCP, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and You – Working Together to promote diversity in the construction trades

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs hosting an Informational Session on OFCCP and our Megaproject Construction Program. In support of the President’s landmark Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) is creating good jobs in the construction industry across the country, OFCCP launched our Mega Construction Project (Megaproject) Program on March 14, 2023. Through the Megaproject Program, OFCCP will proactively promote equitable hiring and fair workplaces by federal contractors in the construction trades on large federal and federally funded projects. In addition to conducting construction compliance evaluations, we will provide extensive and no-cost compliance assistance to contractors and subcontractors. Our goal is to strengthen recruitment, hiring, and employment practices, remove hiring barriers, and promote consideration of a diverse pool of qualified workers for jobs in the construction trades, including women, people of color, veterans, and people with disabilities.

The OFCCP Philadelphia District Office proudly invites the local community groups within the State of Pennsylvania to hear about OFCCP and our Megaproject Construction, and how we look to engage, partner, and collaborate with you to ensure women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are afforded an opportunity to work on these projects.
