IRS Advisory Opinion 2011-06A

This document is about an advisory opinion from the U.S. Department of Labor regarding the application of ERISA Section 406(b) to the selection of broker-dealers affiliated with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group by Aberdeen Asset Management for its ERISA plan clients. The Department concludes that the selection of the affiliated broker-dealers would not necessarily violate Section 406(b) if certain conditions are met.
