As youth and young adults with disabilities transition from post-secondary education to employment, there are a number of initiatives from states and post-secondary institutions that are operational and prepare them for careers in high-demand fields.

This presentation will highlight the following:

• OFCCP, the laws it enforces, and its section 503 efforts and resources
• State and institution-level postsecondary efforts focused on improving outcomes for students with disabilities
• Lessons Learned from Community College Pathways demonstration efforts
• Universal Design for Learning at one Pathways demonstration site

• Inclusive Apprenticeship and Career and Technical Education Briefs

In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), ODEP’s Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN) will be hosting the webinar “Disability-Inclusive Workplace Culture: Building it to Last” on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. ET. The webinar will explore how leading companies build and sustain disability-inclusive cultures, and how organizations can apply these lessons to create a stronger, more inclusive workplace as they recover from the pandemic. Presenters include Jim Sinocchi, Managing Director, Global Office of Disability Inclusion for JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Vani Seshadri, Vice President of Global Inclusion & Diversity at Accenture.

ODEP’s LEAD Center will host a webinar that will focus on Virginia’s cross-system Accessibility Taskforce. Virginia created the Taskforce in 2016 as part of the State’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Combined State Plan. In this webinar, attendees will learn how the Accessibility Taskforce works across systems to promote equal opportunity policies, procedures, and practices by workforce staff and partners.
