Customized Employment Grants (2003-2007)
ODEP funds additional grants to increase the capacity of the workforce development system to serve individuals with significant disabilities through the use of customized employment strategies.
Ending Chronic Homelessness through Employment and Housing Cooperative Agreements (2003-2008)
In coordination with DOL's Veterans' Employment and Training Service and Employment and Training Administration, as well as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), ODEP funds five cooperative agreements to improve employment outcomes for chronically homeless individuals with disabilities through local partnerships with housing providers and workforce agencies.
"Guideposts for Success"
ODEP publishes the Guideposts for Success, a policy development framework representing what research and practice has identified as key educational and career development interventions that make a positive difference in the lives of all youth, including youth with disabilities. The Guideposts grew out of data gathered from the High School/High Tech Realignment Grants (2001-2002).
High School/High Tech (HS/HT) State Development and Implementation Grants (2003-2006)
ODEP funds grants to assist several states, in partnership with their Workforce Investment Boards, to integrate and sustain HS/HT programs into youth services funded under the Workforce Investment Act.
Home Modification Grants (2003-2004)
ODEP, in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service and HUD, funds grants to promote home modifications as a means to promote employment of individuals with disabilities.
Innovative State Alignment Grants for Improving Transition Outcomes for Youth with Disabilities through the Use of Intermediaries (2003-2007)
ODEP funds grants to help states develop, implement and evaluate cross-agency, multi-year plans to improve transition outcomes for youth with disabilities through blending and braiding of resources and to conduct local pilot demonstrations with intermediary organizations.
Intermediary Grants for Mentoring Youth with Disabilities (2003-2007)
In coordination with DOL's Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and the U.S. Department of Education's Rehabilitation Services Administration, ODEP funds grants to build the capacity of community organizations to provide mentoring services to young people.
Pathways to Work in the 21st Century: A UK-US Seminar of Exchange
ODEP convenes a three-day forum at which more than 75 U.S. and U.K. disability advocates, government officials and employers share ideas for improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities on both sides of the Atlantic.
Promoting the Employment of Persons with Psychiatric Disabilities Work Group
ODEP establishes the interagency Work Group on Promoting the Employment of Persons with Psychiatric Disabilities, which is charged with ensuring that all DOL-sponsored employment and training activities incorporate the perspectives of people with mental health disabilities.
Small Business Administration (SBA)-ODEP Strategic Alliance Memorandum
ODEP initiates and leads a formal agreement with SBA to catalyze self-employment opportunities for people with disabilities through a coordinated, interagency initiative.
Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars
ODEP provides funds to the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars to establish a program to help college students with disabilities gain professional work experience with the federal government.
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Section 188 Checklist
ODEP collaborates with DOL's Employment and Training Administration (ETA) and Civil Rights Center (CRC) to jointly develop and issue the WIA Section 188 Disability Checklist — a uniform procedure for measuring compliance with Section 188 of WIA and its implementing regulations pertaining to physical, programmatic and communication accessibility for persons with disabilities.
Working for Freedom, Opportunity and Real Choice Through Community Employment (WorkFORCE) Action Grants (2003-2006)
ODEP funds additional grants to document effective strategies that increase the capability of individuals transitioning from segregated environments — pursuant to the Olmstead decision — to successfully participate in community employment through utilization of customized strategies.
