A report that discusses forced labor in the illegal gold mining industry in the district of Manseriche in the Loreto region of Peru and the working conditions of the local Awajún indigenous people. The report includes an extensive literature review on relevant topics, and analysis of industrial logistics, coloniality, and value extraction.

This issue paper addresses the twin challenges of child labor and education exclusion among indigenous children. The paper demonstrates that indigenous children face a higher risk of child labor than other children, and are often significantly over-represented in hazardous work and the worst forms of child labor. These children also face limited access to education, with particular limitations found among indigenous girls. Factors influencing this situation include land dispossession, climate change, migration, and constraints on traditional indigenous livelihoods

A market analysis and beneficiary needs assessments commissioned by the BRIDGE project as part of an effort to increase awareness and access to livelihood programmes for victims of forced labour. 

The specific objectives of the assessment were:

-Mapping of recently completed and on-going livelihood programmes for forced labour target group, particularly Haruwa-Charuwawith the support of relevant development partners;

-Analyze labour market situation, identification of trades/skills in demands, possibilities of employment and self-employment inrespective trades;

-Undertake needs assessment of targeted gender-sensitive beneficiary of forced labour, particularly Haruwa-Charuwa;

-Recommendations for cost-effective, target group (forced labour, particularly Haruwa-Charuwa) focused, sustainable livelihood options/programmes linking with employment or self-employment.

Employs a cross-sectional method incorporating both qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative methods were used to capture data through mini-survey with direct Haruwa-Charuwabeneficiaries, desk review from literature and secondary sources on income and financial indicators measuring business viability. Qualitative methods were used to collect data through purposively selected Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Key Informant Interview (KII), field observation and interaction with the direct Haruwa-Charuwabeneficiaries, training service providers, NGOs, financial institutions and employersto gather in depth information and understanding of livelihoods and market structure. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to collect Haruwa-Charuwaaspirations on business preferences. 

The purpose of this guide is to help Veracruz state and municipal administration officials strengthen the institutional capacity and public policies on the prevention and eradication of child labor, and the protection of adolescents of the legal age to perform labor. This guide is meant to be used as a reference document.

Have You Heard of Pilares Network? Do You Know What It Is and What It Does? - El Bagre: In order to work together for the children of the municipality, 18 social organizations from El Bagre created the Pilares network last October. Men, women and young people prepare to observe how child labor is presented in the villages and urban areas, and promote joint actions so that more and more boys, girls and adolescents can live their development cycle without having responsibilities corresponding to adults.
