The Forced Labour Protocol Guide
PrintThis guide aims to explain why ratification and implementation of P029, the “Protocol of 2014 to the Forced Labour Convention, 1930” (the Forced Labour Protocol) represents a vital opportunity for trade unions and their allies to obtain, through social dialogue and action, measures to end exploitative labor practices and advance opportunities for decent work. It sets out the challenges to obtaining decent work posed by the laws, policies, and practices that facilitate forced labor and trafficking in the contemporary world. It explains key elements that the Forced Labour Protocol enshrines in law when ratified. The guide also aims to explain some of the key opportunities to build pressure for ratification of the Forced Labour Protocol and looks at some specific obstacles to that ratification.
