WASHINGTON – The U.S. and Mexico today announced that, in response to a petition provided in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the Mexican government took actions to ensure a free and fair election to choose union representation for workers at the Manufacturas VU Auto Components facility in Piedras Negras, State of Coahuila.

US Department of Labor recovers $269K in back wages, damages for live-in caregivers, whose Ontario employer denied them overtime

ONTARIO, CA – A federal investigation has found the operator of four Southern California residential care homes failed to pay overtime wages to four live-in caregivers who worked as many as 16-hours a day, seven days a week, and recovered a total of $269,104 in back wages and liquidated damages for them.

BOSTON – As a result of lengthy civil contempt litigation by the U.S. Department of Labor against two Massachusetts construction companies and their officers, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts has approved the distribution of $1.8 million from court-ordered real estate sales and additional funds to 478 workers who were employed by Force Corp., AB Construction Group Inc., Juliano Fernandes and Anderson dos Santos.

Federal court forces Chicago restaurant owner to comply with subpoena requesting documents for US Department of Labor wage investigation

CHICAGO – After more than two years, a Chicago restaurant owner has finally complied with an administrative subpoena to provide documentation for a U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division investigation. The compliance comes after a federal judge held Wilson Torres, owner of La Bomba Food Restaurant Inc., in contempt and confined him to one night in jail and ordered him to pay $40,500 in fines.

US Department of Labor recovers $131.8M for Wells Fargo 401(k) participants after investigation finds plan overpaid for company stock

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a settlement with Wells Fargo and Company and Wells Fargo Bank and GreatBanc Trust Company – a plan trustee – that recovers more than $131.8 million for the retirement plan’s participants after a department investigation found that, from 2013 through 2018, the fund overpaid for company stock purchased for the plan.
