Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC)
JOTG Outreach Events in Paducah, Kentucky! – On October 21 & 22, 2014, officials from the Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) participated in three town hall meetings in Paducah, Kentucky, to provide information about the EEOICPA to current and former employees of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PGDP). The meetings were hosted by the Joint Outreach Task Group (JOTG) which is comprised of representatives from DEEOIC, the Department of Labor’s Office of the Ombudsman for the EEOICPA, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), DOE’s Former Worker Medical Screening Program, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. Members of the JOTG presented specific information about the EEOICPA and answered questions. Presentations were given by DEEOIC Director Rachel Leiton and by representatives from DEEOIC’s National Office, Medical Bill Pay Unit, and the Jacksonville district office. Presentations regarding the EEOICPA were also given by DOL’s Ombudsman for the EEOICPA; the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Ombudsman for NIOSH; and officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Worker Health Protection Program at Queens College. One-hundred and ninety-nine (199) people attended the meetings, along with 4 physicians and 13 home healthcare providers who met with DEEOIC officials in round table meetings on October 23.
