Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC)
Outreach in New York! – The Department of Labor hosted town hall meetings on September 23, 2014, in Amherst, New York and September 25, 2014, in Rochester, New York, to disseminate information about the EEOICPA. The purpose of the meetings was to notify current and former nuclear weapons employees who worked at one or more of the 39 covered facilities in the western New York region about benefits available to them under the EEOICPA. Representatives from the Cleveland district office provided status updates to claimants, while staff from the New York resource center assisted claimants and processed new claims. An official from the DEEOIC National Office, Medical Bill Pay Unit, gave an overview of the program and presented specific information regarding medical and home healthcare benefits. A representative from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health answered questions regarding the radiation dose reconstruction process. On September 23, 2014, the Traveling Resource Center was open from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and on September 25, services were provided from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. On September 24, 2014, physicians and home health care providers met with DEEOIC officials in round table meetings. A reporter from WXXI Public Broadcasting station recorded a portion of the event, providing televised news coverage of the event.
