Ombudsman Hosts Outreach Events in Wyoming! – The Office of the Ombudsman hosted two outreach events in Casper, Wyoming, on March 10, 2015, and in Riverton, Wyoming, on March 11, 2015, to provide the public with information about the EEOICPA. The meetings were primarily for Section 5 uranium workers covered under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act administered by the U.S. Department of Justice. Potential uranium workers who developed an illness as a result of exposure to toxic substances while working at a Section 5 RECA facility are considered eligible for federal compensation and medical benefits under the EEOICPA. Malcolm Nelson, the EEOICPA Ombudsman, presented an overview on RECA claims for individuals who attended the event and had concerns regarding their RECA claims. Representatives from DEEOIC's Branch of Outreach & Technical Assistance and the Denver district office performed status updates and answered questions, and staff from the Denver resource center processed new claims on behalf of individuals who were qualified for benefits under the RECA.
