Advancing Equity: Building a Strong Workforce by Including Workers with Disabilities

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) will co-host an informative webinar addressing several key areas essential for supporting and uplifting disability inclusion in the workforce. OFCCP will offer an agency overview describing Executive Order 11246, Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), and focus on Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

The overview will provide a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework designed to protect and empower disabled employees. The discussion will delve into Reasonable Accommodations and share practical strategies for fostering an inclusive workforce, share record-keeping practices, describe how utilization goals can help organizations ensure equitable representation of disabled individuals in their workforce, explain the importance of encouraging employees to participate in completing the Self-Identification Form, and an introduction to the Employer Resource Referral Directory.

Additionally, OFCCP will introduce the Mega Construction Project Program and discuss the importance of fostering an inclusive and equitable workforce for the construction trades industry. ODEP will highlight inclusive recruiting practices, affirmative outreach, considerations when using AI, onboarding and training using inclusive design, cultural competency workgroups, and the importance of being flexible and offering wrap-around services. ODEP will also showcase their Helping Workers with Disabilities Get Ahead Through Good Jobs: A Toolkit of Practical Strategies. These valuable insights shared will aim to build a more inclusive and equitable workplace.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. Please let us know if you require any accommodations or have questions about the event. Please submit accommodation requests to OFCCP's Pacific Region's Outreach Division no later than one week prior to the scheduled webinar to OFCCP-PA-Outreach@dol.gov.
