Baseline survey in cocoa-growing districts in Ghana - Community and School Survey Report

This school and community report on the 64 CCP communities reveal that majority of the communities are lacking of many economic and physical infrastructure, including education and health infrastructure. Child labor also seems to be common place in these communities. This report presents the findings from the community and school survey and covers the characteristics and profile of the communities as well as their basic schools.

For more efficiency of the ECOWAS II program, this study was initiated following a previous one carried out in 2008, with a view to updating and deepening knowledge on child labor in mines and quarries. The study specifically targets several objectives, such as: to carry out an exhaustive inventory of functional sites and make a census of all children working in artisanal gravel, granite and gold panning operations; to identify, describe, and analyze the different operating systems of mines and quarries in the three sub-sectors; and to carry out a gender analysis in relation to working children. |

Implementation Study "Studies of Value Chains": The present study was carried out in 17 Guarani communities of four captaincies of the Chaco region. Through surveys of producers, housewives and leaders, collected data to analyze the value chains of crops destined for trade, which are corn, beans and peanuts and from raising poultry. Testimonials were also collected on school attendance and the grade incidence of child labor. |
