Analytical Study on Child Labour in Lake Volta Fishing in Ghana

This study aims to support national efforts to eliminate Worst Forms of Child Labor (WFCL) in the fishing sector. The purpose is to create a shared platform for action against child labor and trafficking in that sector. Specifically, the study's objectives are (i) to examine the scope of the problem of child labor in fishing on Lake Volta (ii) to find out the nature and dimensions of child labor in Lake Volta fishing, including the extent of trafficking into the sector especially of children from other regions and countries. (iii) to find out how the marketing and supply chains work and the underlying motive of fishing operators regarding the use of children (iv) to recommend measures to enhance interventions against child labor in the fishing sector in Ghana; and (v) to support the validation of research findings. |
