The purpose of the assessment was to gain an understanding of the inspectorate’s mandate and authority, as well as its resources, management structure and overall ability to enforce national laws and meet international obligations as they pertain to child labor. Information gleaned from the assessment will be used to develop tools and a training program on eliminating child labor for inspectors and other relevant personnel, such as trainers, managers and those working within the Child Labor Elimination Section at Nepal’s Department of Labor. A legal review of national laws and regulations related to child labour in Myanmar in light of international laws and standards 1st edition (Burmese)

The 1st edition, Burmese language results of a 2015 study assessing whether existing national legislation is comprehensive enough to address child labour issues in Myanmar, with a special attention to the worst forms of child labour. This report aims to identify major issues and gaps and provide recommendations on the revision of national legislation pertaining to child labour, particularly hazardous work for minors, and possible approaches to effectively implement and monitor the laws. Reviews existing national laws and regulations in light of the international laws and standards relevant to the elimination of child labour and protection of young workers, in particular its two core Conventions: i.e. ILO Convention No. 138 on Minimum Age, 1973, and the ILO Convention No. 182 on Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention, 1999. |

A manual produced by the ILO's International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (ILO-IPEC) in collaboration with the General Agricultural Workers' Union (GAWU of GTUC) to serve as an essential training tool for workers in the rural communities, especially farmers, to promote and ensure safety at the work place. It is one of IPEC's strategies in working with workers' representatives and employers' organizations to help ensure that work is safe for all. The production of this farmer-friendly manual fits under a new generation of ILO-IPEC projects in West Africa namely “Towards Child Labour-Free Cocoa Communities in d'Ivoire and Ghana through Integrated Area-Based Approach” financed by the United States Department of Labor and “Combating Child Labour in Cocoa-Growing Communities in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire” financed by the Global Issues Group (GIG). |
