For more efficiency of the ECOWAS II program, this study was initiated following a previous one carried out in 2008, with a view to updating and deepening knowledge on child labor in mines and quarries. The study specifically targets several objectives, such as: to carry out an exhaustive inventory of functional sites and make a census of all children working in artisanal gravel, granite and gold panning operations; to identify, describe, and analyze the different operating systems of mines and quarries in the three sub-sectors; and to carry out a gender analysis in relation to working children.

The purpose of this report is to share the findings of the Community Asset Appraisal (CAA) mapping implemented in 15 communities in the two ARCH Child Labor Free Zones (CLFZs). The CAA is intended to support the targeted communities to discover what assets and needs are important in preventing and responding to child labor. Of note, "Annex A: Community Advocates" in the document has been removed for privacy purposes.

The central objective of this research study is to understand the forms of forced labor and human trafficking for the purpose of labor exploitation, in the triple border area between Peru, Brazil and Colombia.

This form is a questionnaire for recording information about direct beneficiaries such as their demographic information, education history, employment history, information on the individuals debts/income/assets/expenditures, vulnerabilities to exploitation and post-training questions. This investigation documents presence of forced labor in logging camps, which evidences debt bondage, threats and punishments in the workplace, among others, and shows the presence of an extensive -informal and precarious- recruitment system concentrated in river ports. Sustained in interviews with workers and ex-workers, the field work carried out in the triple border allows to understand the precariousness of a scenario crossed by illegal economies, a porous control system and a wide informal dynamic.
