WEKEZA Project Baseline Report
Show Description
The United States Department of Labor (USDOL) in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania initiated and funded International Rescue Committee (IRC) to undertake the WEKEZA Project with the goal of combatting child labor. The WEKEZA baseline study includes a situational assessment of child labor and the pre-program status of six specified program outcome areas in six targeted Districts: Kasulu, Uvinza, and Kigoma Ujiji in Kigoma Region, and Korogwe, Muheza, and Tanga City in Tanga Region. The first objective of the report is to conduct a situational analysis of specified program-related information; the second objective is to provide baseline values of Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP) indicators; and the third objective is to provide contextual information that can help improve the program design. This baseline survey was carried out in 2013. The analysis combines mixed methods and integrates quantitative and qualitative data collected from households, children, teachers, local leaders, community members, parents and youth. This approach enables a holistic consideration of circumstances that influence child labor and allows findings to be viewed from multiple perspectives. |
