A manual produced by the ILO's International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (ILO-IPEC) in collaboration with the General Agricultural Workers' Union (GAWU of GTUC) to serve as an essential training tool for workers in the rural communities, especially farmers, to promote and ensure safety at the work place. It is one of IPEC's strategies in working with workers' representatives and employers' organizations to help ensure that work is safe for all. The production of this farmer-friendly manual fits under a new generation of ILO-IPEC projects in West Africa namely “Towards Child Labour-Free Cocoa Communities in d'Ivoire and Ghana through Integrated Area-Based Approach” financed by the United States Department of Labor and “Combating Child Labour in Cocoa-Growing Communities in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire” financed by the Global Issues Group (GIG).

A manual intended for extension officers in their engagement with farmers, farm workers and farmer groups to facilitate their understanding of the three components of this manual; Unit 1: Understanding the Concepts of Child Labour, Unit 2: Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSH&E) in the Agriculture Sector of Ghana, and Unit 3: The Role of Agriculture Extension Officers in Implementing the Ghana Child Labour Monitoring System (GCLMS). Under each unit, the trainer is given basic notes on the objectives for the unit, expected outputs, sessions and duration, preparation, materials required, methodology, procedure, evaluation, and key messages. The units are also supported with a resource section to furnish the trainer with key information that will enhance their capability to facilitate the sessions.

The first section of this document presents a synoptic background of the state’s profile, the development process and the rationale for a State Action Plan. The State Action Plan provides the roadmap for the implementation of the National Policy on the Elimination of Child Labour in Ogun State through a variety of implementation strategies such as awareness raising and resource mobilization. The second section of the document describes the policy environment, existing gaps and recommended interventions. The section also highlights the achievements, gaps and recommended actions to be taken. Section three describes the intervention strategies and M&E framework while section four contains information on the Implementation of the State Action Plan.

A research report that seeks to identify practical and sustainable measures to enhance cocoa productivity and improve livelihoods in cocoa growing communities in Ghana within the context of eliminating child labor in accordance with the specific needs of the target groups. The key research objective is to enhance sustainable livelihoods and improve the economic and social wellbeing through improving knowledge in agricultural practices and access to innovative opportunities to sustain increased productivity and reduce dependence on child labor. The report also includes a guide to help enhance trainers' capacity to engage with farmers.

A capacity and coordination review commissioned by the ILO/IPEC Cocoa Communities Project in Ghana. This is volume I of the report on the assessment, detailing the findings and recommendations for strengthening national capacity to coordinate and implement the NP on child labor in Ghana. Volume II of the report contains more detailed information on the process and methodology employed in the assessment as well as annexes. The reports are contained in two volumes to make it easier to read. The review looks into national, district and local capacity to implement the NPA and to coordinate interventions to eliminate child labor. The main focus for the exercise is on coordination, but other dimensions of capacity are also explored. Therefore, this report includes conclusions and recommendations pertaining to coordination, but also towards other dimensions of capacity that were found to be critical.

A report that details the process and methods employed in reviewing and supporting capacity for coordination of initiatives to eliminate child labor in Ghana. The actual findings and recommendations of the capacity assessment are contained in a separate report. In addition, this report contains lessons learned on the organization of the capacity review exercise. The report has been split into two volumes to make it easier to read. The first volume of the report is the “Report on the Review of Capacity and Coordination towards Elimination of Child Labour in Ghana. Volume I: Report on the main findings and recommendations”.

A study conducted to support national efforts to eliminate Worst Forms of Child Labor (WFCL) in the mining and quarrying sector. Specifically, the study aims at the following objectives: To examine the scope of the problem of child labor in mining and quarrying; to find out the nature and dimensions of child labor in mining and quarrying, including the extent of trafficking into the sector especially of children from other regions and countries; and to recommend measures to enhance interventions against child labor in the mining and quarrying sector in Ghana.

This SMC Training Manual seeks to provide basic guide for the training of School Management Committees. It seeks to help facilitators and SMCs understand what is already in the SMC Resource Manual. This Training Manual particularly focuses on issues of Child Labor and Education and has therefore expanded on topics under Child Rights in the Resource Manual. This is as a result of the greater recognition that the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service and its development partners give to the issue of child labor and education.
