The purpose of the assessment was to gain an understanding of the inspectorate’s mandate and authority, as well as its resources, management structure and overall ability to enforce national laws and meet international obligations as they pertain to child labor. Information gleaned from the assessment will be used to develop tools and a training program on eliminating child labor for inspectors and other relevant personnel, such as trainers, managers and those working within the Child Labor Elimination Section at Nepal’s Department of Labor. A study conducted to support national efforts to eliminate Worst Forms of Child Labor (WFCL) in the mining and quarrying sector. Specifically, the study aims at the following objectives: To examine the scope of the problem of child labor in mining and quarrying; to find out the nature and dimensions of child labor in mining and quarrying, including the extent of trafficking into the sector especially of children from other regions and countries; and to recommend measures to enhance interventions against child labor in the mining and quarrying sector in Ghana. |

This guide is a joint endeavor by Verité and the Labour Department to help build the capacities of labor inspectors to conduct labor inspections in both the formal and informal sectors with emphasis on the informal sector with the incidence of forced labor with its negative consequences on individuals, families, societies and the nation of Ghana as a whole. It will also increase collaboration and coordination amongst stakeholders working on forced labor and human trafficking to share information for improved performance. |
