A report describing the findings of a 2018 baseline survey conducted during the Soutenir les Acteurs de la Vanille au Bénéfice des Enfants (Support to Vanilla Sector Stakeholders to Benefit Children) project. The survey was conducted within 32 communes and aimed to collect accurately sampled data on children, their families, the impact on the children’s education, and family/community understanding of child labor and its consequences, to contribute to appropriate program design and delivery; and to establish a set of data that would serve as a baseline against which future data collection could be compared in order to evaluate progress or reorient program activity.

This study of criminological analysis seeks to contribute to the objective of managing reliable and valid information about the characteristics of forced labor, in order to generate evidence that contribute to the development of future research in the matter, as well as the design, implementation and evaluation of institutional and public policies, in the scope of prevention and prosecution of this crime, and of the protection of its victims.
