This report presents an estimate of the people at risk of forced labor and the risk factors associated with the problem; and presents the results of the field research, which collected qualitative information from key informants and visits to certain farms or plantations. The report also presents the magnitude and characteristics of child labor, through the analysis of official information and field verification and description of the palm and cocoa production processes that incorporate children and adolescents in these activities. This study is the product of a consultancy commissioned from COMUNIDEC by the International Labor Office, and is linked to the expected results of the project "Building effective policies against child labor in Ecuador and Panama" (RLA 104) and the activities of El Plan Global de Acción Financiera.

A baseline study conducted to collect data on children involved in or at risk of being involved in child labor in three regions of Burkina Faso: Boucle du Mouhoun, the Cascades, and Hauts-Bassins regions

This report is a prevalence study on child labor in Rwanda’s tea growing areas. The primary objective of the study was to estimate the prevalence of working children and hazardous work in tea production and to better understand child labor dynamics, focusing on tea-growing  areas  of  the  country. This study also serves as a baseline context for the Rwanda Education Alternatives for Children in Tea-growing Areas project (REACH-T) and is the first large scale survey aimed at estimating child labor rates in the tea-growing areas in Rwanda.

The following report describes the results of a follow-up impact evaluation survey of a child labor prevention program (The Extended School Hours program) in Bolivia. The Extended Hours program was designed to increase school persistence by helping children who were struggling in their studies, while also reducing the number of hours children worked by keeping them engaged in educational support activities. A research report that seeks to identify practical and sustainable measures to enhance cocoa productivity and improve livelihoods in cocoa growing communities in Ghana within the context of eliminating child labor in accordance with the specific needs of the target groups. The key research objective is to enhance sustainable livelihoods and improve the economic and social wellbeing through improving knowledge in agricultural practices and access to innovative opportunities to sustain increased productivity and reduce dependence on child labor. The report also includes a guide to help enhance trainers' capacity to engage with farmers.

A capacity and coordination review commissioned by the ILO/IPEC Cocoa Communities Project in Ghana. This is volume I of the report on the assessment, detailing the findings and recommendations for strengthening national capacity to coordinate and implement the NP on child labor in Ghana. Volume II of the report contains more detailed information on the process and methodology employed in the assessment as well as annexes. The reports are contained in two volumes to make it easier to read. The review looks into national, district and local capacity to implement the NPA and to coordinate interventions to eliminate child labor. The main focus for the exercise is on coordination, but other dimensions of capacity are also explored. Therefore, this report includes conclusions and recommendations pertaining to coordination, but also towards other dimensions of capacity that were found to be critical.

A report that details the process and methods employed in reviewing and supporting capacity for coordination of initiatives to eliminate child labor in Ghana. The actual findings and recommendations of the capacity assessment are contained in a separate report. In addition, this report contains lessons learned on the organization of the capacity review exercise. The report has been split into two volumes to make it easier to read. The first volume of the report is the “Report on the Review of Capacity and Coordination towards Elimination of Child Labour in Ghana. Volume I: Report on the main findings and recommendations”.

This study aims at developing an in–depth understanding of the child labor phenomenon in selected pastoralist communities with the aim of informing the formulation and/or revision of public policies and programmes on education and child labor elimination. Specifically, this study sets forth to assess the following dimensions of this phenomenon: the extent of pastoralist children’s participation in schooling; the magnitude and nature of child labor with respect to herding of livestock in both bomas (homesteads) and cattle camps; understanding the different hazards associated with child related activities; and gauging the attitude and perceptions of children, youth and their parents on education and child labor in their communities.

A study conducted to support national efforts to eliminate Worst Forms of Child Labor (WFCL) in the mining and quarrying sector. Specifically, the study aims at the following objectives:  To  examine  the  scope  of  the  problem  of  child  labor  in  mining  and quarrying; to find out the nature and dimensions of child labor in mining and quarrying, including the extent of trafficking into the sector especially of children from other regions and countries; and to recommend measures to enhance interventions against child labor in the mining and quarrying sector in Ghana.
