Problem to be Addressed |
The HIV infection rate in Cambodia is the highest in Asia. Despite the recent declines in prevalence among higher risk groups, it remains higher than that of its neighboring countries. The worst affected population category – the 15 – 49 age group, constituting nearly 94 percent of all reported cases – is also the working and economically active segment of society. Fear, social stigmatization, and workplace discrimination are common and inhibit traditional prevention and education efforts from reducing the infection rate. |
