JOB OPPORTUNITY with the U.S. Department of Labor, Division on Indian and Native American Programs

The U.S. Department of Labor’s, Division of Indian and Native American Programs (DINAP) has a position available in its Washington, DC office.  This is a Pathways vacancy announcement that is open to college undergraduate and graduate students that have obtained their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within the past two years.  It is also open to Native Americans that qualify for Schedule A Indian Preference defined by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) (see Item No. 15 on page 7 of Federal Register / Vol. 84, No. 138 / Thursday, July 18, 2019 / Notices).

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is interested in working in Indian Country administering Employment and Training grants to federally recognized tribes, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian entities. This is an entry level position starting at a GS-9 Step 1 with a starting salary of $68,405 with opportunities for advancement to a GS-12 with a top salary of $128,956 (see Salary Table located at OPM Washington, DC 2024 Salary Table).

The individual selected will be required to travel to Tribes and Native non-profit organizations throughout U.S. as a part of their job duties therefore a valid U.S. driver’s license is required. This is an exciting opportunity for the selected individual to work with many different tribes and tribal entities across the United States addressing workforce development needs in Indian Country.

Who is eligible: 

Applicants who have graduated, within the past two years or six years for Veterans, with an associate, bachelor, master, professional, doctorate, diploma, vocational, technical degree, or certificate, etc.) from a qualifying educational institution or career or technical education program (including registered Apprenticeship Programs, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Job Corps, Climate Corps).
