NEW ORLEANS, LA – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) in New Orleans, Louisiana, will host a webinar on Aug. 6, 2020, to help area employers and employees understand the benefits and protections provided by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). Representatives from the Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the IRS, Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) will also present during the webinar. WHD encourages employers, employees, human resource professionals, attorneys and other stakeholders to attend.

The webinars will focus on FFCRA requirements, including workers’ eligibility for paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave, and other current employment topics. FFCRA helps the U.S. combat and defeat the workplace effects of the coronavirus by giving tax credits to American businesses with fewer than 500 employees to reimburse the costs of providing employees with paid leave for certain reasons related to the coronavirus.
