US Department of Labor recognized for excellence in procurement practices in Small Business Federal Procurement Scorecard for 5th consecutive year
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration has recognized the Department of Labor – for the fifth consecutive year – with an A+ on its Fiscal Year 2021 Small Business Federal Procurement Scorecard.
The scorecard measures the contracting opportunities federal agencies make available to small, small disadvantaged, women-owned, service-disabled, veteran-owned businesses and those in Historically Underutilized Business Zones.
The Department of Labor is one of 11 agencies to achieve an outstanding grade of A+ on the FY21 scorecard. Of the 24 federal agencies reviewed, only the department and three other agencies achieved all of its small business goals at the prime and subcontracting level.
In FY21, the department accomplished the following:
- Awarded more than $1 billion in prime contracts and $111 million in subcontracts to small businesses, the highest total awarded to small businesses at the prime contracting level with a 13.6 percent increase in contract dollars over FY20.
- Increased its awards to women-owned small businesses by 19.3 percent to $334 million and 9.6 percent to service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses to $159 million and increased awards to HUBZone communities to $180 million, a significant 38.4 percent increase over FY20.
- Awarded almost two-thirds of its subcontracts to small businesses.
- Significantly exceeded the 3 percent target of awards and processed $19 million to HUBZone and service-disabled, veteran-owned businesses in underserved communities.
