WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Labor today responded to specific state requests seeking assistance to administer changes to unemployment insurance (UI) programs made by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and the Emergency Unemployment Insurance Stabilization and Access Act in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of seven Dislocated Worker Grants (DWGs), totaling $30,170,311, to help address the workforce-related impacts of the public health emergency related to the coronavirus pandemic. These awards are funded under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act which provided $345 million for DWGs intended to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced that the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation’s (FPUC) weekly unemployment compensation boost is now being paid to eligible individuals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. FPUC is authorized under Section 2104 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act (Pub. L. 116-136), and provides an additional $600 weekly payment to certain eligible individuals who are receiving other benefits.

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an opioid crisis National Health Emergency Dislocated Worker Grant for up to $9,000,000, with $3,000,000 released initially, to the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The grant will support disaster-relief jobs and provide employment services to eligible individuals in New Jersey communities affected by the health and economic effects of widespread opioid use, addiction, and overdoses.

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced additional funding of $2,942,844 for a Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grant awarded to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services in response to severe storms that battered the southeastern section of the state in February 2019.

In the week ending April 18, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 4,427,000, a decrease of 810,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised down by 8,000 from 5,245,000 to 5,237,000. The 4-week moving average was 5,786,500, an increase of 280,000 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised down by 2,000 from 5,508,500 to 5,506,500.

In the week ending April 11, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 5,245,000, a decrease of 1,370,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 9,000 from 6,606,000 to 6,615,000. The 4-week moving average was 5,508,500, an increase of 1,240,750 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 2,250 from 4,265,500 to 4,267,750.

In the week ending April 4, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 6,606,000, a decrease of 261,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 219,000 from 6,648,000 to 6,867,000. The 4-week moving average was 4,265,500, an increase of 1,598,750 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 54,750 from 2,612,000 to 2,666,750.
