U.S. Department of Labor Awards Dislocated Worker Grant to Massachusetts after Weetabix Manufacturing Facility Closure

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced National Dislocated Worker Grant funding of $372,945 to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development to provide reemployment services to individuals impacted by the closure of the Weetabix cereal manufacturing facility in Clinton, Massachusetts, operated by Post Holdings Inc.

With these funds, the Commonwealth will provide career services such as career planning, comprehensive assessments, resume writing and job placement to workers laid off in June and July 2019. All workers affected by the plant closure have been certified as eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance, enabling them to seek training and supportive services in preparation for reemployment.

Supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, Dislocated Worker Grants temporarily expand the service capacity of dislocated worker programs at the state and local levels by providing funding assistance in response to large, unexpected economic events that cause significant job losses.
