Food for Thought: Federal Labor Law Tips and Resources for the Restaurant Industry

In recognition of National Waitstaff Day, the Wage and Hour Division’s (WHD) Northeast Region is pleased to host a free, virtual training event for employers, employees, and worker advocates in the restaurant industry.

The presentation will discuss how to avoid common Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) minimum wage, overtime, and youth employment issues found in food service-related settings. The webinar will also cover regulatory changes affecting tipped workers and tip pools, as well as the Pump Act’s recent expansion of break time for nursing mothers’ protections.

WHD will be joined by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to discuss available resources for small hospitality sector employers.

Links to updated USDOL/WHD resource materials will be provided during the webinar, and a Q&A session will follow the presentation. Space is limited. Registration is required. Log in information will be shared prior to the event.
