Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization
The small and disadvantaged business program relates to small, socially, and economically disadvantaged (including 8(a) which is named for the authorizing section of the Small Business Act), and small women-owned businesses, and the minority bank deposit initiative. The program's thrust is to increase participation opportunities for small businesses in the Department's contract and grant activities; conduct outreach to increase awareness and availability of qualified providers; develop and issue information on the Department's procurement needs and procedures; train Department staff on program requirements and capabilities; and monitor, evaluate, and report results of the Department's efforts.

Compliance Assistance
The Department of Labor is committed to providing its customers — America's employers, workers, job seekers and retirees — with clear and easy-to-access information on how to comply with federal employment laws. OSDBU has moved forward with several initiatives for small business compliance assistance.
