Registered Apprenticeships provide service members and veterans a unique earn-and-learn pathway to develop in-demand workplace and technical skills while earning a paycheck from day one.

There are many benefits to participating in an apprenticeship: 

• Get paid while learning a new skill that is outside one’s military occupation
• Work alongside a mentor in a structured environment
• Receive credit for prior education and military service
• Earn credentials and college credits
• Develop critical skills that provide a pathway to a family-sustaining job without accumulating college debt
• Eligible veterans can use their GI Bill benefits and receive a tax-free monthly housing stipend

Employers in industries such as construction, advanced manufacturing, transportation, education, healthcare, IT, cybersecurity, and many others, are using this model to attract, train and retain veterans.

Employers: Create an apprenticeship program to attract, support and retain veterans

Many employers are turning to Registered Apprenticeship to develop and grow their future workforce in a wide variety of industries while offering veterans access to high-paying careers. These programs assist employers in developing highly-skilled employees, reducing turnover, promoting diversity, standardizing training, and creating a pipeline of qualified workers.    

Apprenticeships help employers attract and retain veterans because they offer a structured training environment similar to their military experience. These earn-and-learn programs provide veterans with the ability to learn a new skill without accumulating college debt, and eligible veterans in these programs can use their GI Bill benefits to receive a tax-free monthly housing stipend.
