For convenience, the Federal Schedule has been expanded to include columns reflecting derived weekly and daily rates. This revised Federal Schedule of Remuneration is effective for UCX "first claims" filed beginning with the first day of the first week which begins on or after January 4, 2004, pursuant to 20 CFR 614.12(c).

* Some grades reflect fewer dollars when compared to 2003 figures. The rates for 2004 are average by grade Regular Military Compensation (RMC) values for the indicated grade. The average was 4.1 overall raise for basic pay, but RMC includes housing allowances which vary throughout the U.S. and are based on collected housing data for each area for rental values which have gone down in many places due to the low interest rates on loans. The overall by-grade average for housing allowances is used in this case. Military pay is affected by changes in tax rates versus changes in taxable vs tax-exempt pay. Finally, RMC by-grade averages change due to shifts in the number of people in grade and pay cells demographically.
