Army-Automated DD Form 214 |
Purpose. To announce the use of an automated DD Form 214 by the Department of the Army (DOA), and the schedule for implementation of the automated DD Form 214.
Background. The DOA has informed this Department that, in an effort to improve service to veterans and promote efficiencies among government and private sector agencies, it has automated the process of transitioning soldiers from military to civilian life. The DOA also informed the Department that a significant feature of the Transition Processing (TRANSPROC) Installation Support Module is the capability to produce a laser print generated DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty). Eight (8) copies of the DD Form 214 are printed and signed by an authorized transition official (sample attached). It may be used in lieu of the carbon version of the form for those installations where the module is field tested.
The DOA will field test TRANSPROC in 28 Army Installations in the Continental United States during the fourth quarter of FY 1994. The field test schedule is also attached for your information.
Instructions. SESAs should alert all local offices to the increased production and use of the laser print generated DD Form 214.
Action Required. SESA Administrators are requested to provide the above information to appropriate staff.
Inquiries. Direct inquiries pertaining to this UIPL to appropriate Regional Office.
Attachments. Sample copy of laser printed DD Form 214 and field test schedule.
