1. PURPOSE.To inform State Workforce Agencies (SWAs) of the 2004 Monitor Advocate Training being held in San Antonio, Texas, April 13-16, 2004.
2. REFERENCE.20 CFR 653.108(e).
3. BACKGROUND.The Monitor Advocate Training will be held in conjunction with MAFO's National Farmworker Conference. Both events will provide participants with substantive knowledge and the opportunity to establish ties that will strengthen partnerships and promote the integration of service delivery to Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers (MSFWs) within the workforce investment system.
4. Monitor Advocate Training.
The Monitor Advocate Training sessions will begin the morning of April 13 and will end at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 16. Topics include the following: Integration, Performance and Reporting; Conducting MSFW Technical Assistance Visits & Reviews; WIA Reauthorization; Improving Agricultural Recruitment; Protecting the American Food Supply; Agriculture Skills Upgrade through Technology & Distance Learning; Outreach to Farmworkers; Farmworker Protective Laws; Practical Tools for Serving Limited English Proficient Customers.
5. Participants. All State Monitor Advocates should attend. Outreach Workers, and any other One-Stop staff interested in improving service delivery to MSFWs, are also invited and encouraged to attend.
6. Accommodations. The training will be held at the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk, San Antonio, Texas. Additional information will soon be posted www.mafofarmworker.com and will be e-mailed to all Monitor Advocates when it becomes available. The cost of the training and the conference will be about $200.
