1. Purpose. To inform State Workforce Agencies (SWAs) of the 2003 Monitor Advocate Training being held in Miami, Florida, April 14 -17.

3. Background. The Monitor Advocate Training will be held in conjunction with MAFO's National Farmworker Conference. Both events will provide participants with substantive knowledge and the opportunity to establish ties that will strengthen partnerships and promote the integration of service delivery to Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers (MSFWs) within the workforce system.
4. Monitor Advocate Training. The agenda of the Monitor Advocate Training will include in-depth working sessions on Integration, Performance, Reporting, Outreach, the Complaint System, Conducting Technical Assistance visits, the Agricultural Recruitment System, Migrant and Seasonal Worker Protection Act (MSPA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). MAFO plenary sessions will also be of importance to Monitor Advocates. The Monitor Advocate Training sessions will begin the afternoon of April 14th and will end at 5 p.m. on Thursday April 17.
5. Participants. All State Monitor Advocates should attend. Outreach Workers, and any other One-Stop staff interested in improving service delivery to MSFWs are also invited and encouraged to attend.

Identify yourself as an attendee of the MAFO 2003 Annual Conference. Room rates are $98 plus taxes. For Monitor Advocates, the combined registration fee for the conference and the training is a specially negotiated rate of $200 if paid before March 24, 2003.
