About the Study
In 2012, the Chief Evaluation Office (CEO) partnered with the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) and funded contractor Avar Consulting to conduct the Veterans Employment and Training Service's Transition Assistance Program Employment Workshop Formative Evaluation. The formative evaluation aims to determine if the redesigned Transition Assistance Program (TAP) curriculum provides exiting service members with the skills, tools, and resources needed to transition into civilian employment and to identify potential approaches for future program evaluation. To support this analysis, researchers conducted three observational site visits in May and June 2013 and analyzed results of a customer satisfaction survey collected from 2,029 Workshop participants between July 2012 and February 2013.
This Department of Labor-funded study was a result of the annual process to determine the department’s research priorities for the upcoming year. It contributes to the labor evidence-base to inform employment and training programs and policies and addresses Departmental strategic goals and priorities.
- Determine whether the updated TAP Employment Workshop curriculum was implemented with fidelity.
- Identify trends or other findings from customer satisfaction survey data
- Present potential strategies or options for future impact evaluation of TAP Employment Workshops.
