Securitas Pays Employees $176,810 in Back Wages After U.S. Department of Labor Finds Violations at Four Hawaiian Airports

HONOLULU, HI – After an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD), a branch office of Securitas Security Services USA Inc. – a security services company based in Anaheim, California – has paid $176,810 in back wages to 226 employees for violating the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) overtime and recordkeeping requirements at four Hawaiian airports. The employer has also paid $22,000 in penalties.

U.S. Department of Labor Awards $68 Million in Grants To Indian and Native American Organizations and Tribes

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today awarded $68 million in funding to 340 organizations and tribes as part of the Indian and Native American Programs grant that provides training opportunities at the local level. Of the total award amount, approximately $54 million will go towards adult programs and $13 million will go towards youth programs.

U.S. Department of Labor Announces $1.8M in Grants To Promote Short-Time Compensation in Missouri

WASHINGTON, DCThe U.S. Department of Labor today announced two grants, totaling $1,834,214, awarded to the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to improve and promote its Short-Time Compensation program. U.S. Department of Labor Awards More than $1.3 Million to Delaware In Grants in Response to Coronavirus Public Health Emergency

In the week ending August 1, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 1,186,000, a decrease of 249,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 1,434,000 to 1,435,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,337,750, a decrease of 31,000 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 1,368,500 to 1,368,750.
