Investigation findings: Able Industries failed to pay legally required health and welfare benefits to hundreds of employees who provided dining, janitorial and maintenance services at several facilities at Anderson Air Force Base and Naval Base Guam from 2011 to 2013 in violation of the Service Contract Act.

Employer name: Symrise Inc., a flavoring and fragrance manufacturer, is located at 172 Industrial Parkway in Branchburg, New Jersey.

Citations issued: On Dec. 1, 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued citations for two willful and ten serious violations.

BATAVIA, Ill. — Falls were the leading cause of death for construction workers last year, accounting for nearly 40 percent of construction fatalities. Yet, federal inspectors recently saw Batavia roofing contractors working on a residential framing project without fall protection.

Event: U.S. Department of Labor representatives will host outreach sessions in New Mexico — in Farmington on Dec. 8 and in Grants on Dec. 9 — to assist current and former nuclear weapons workers and uranium miners in the state. Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Denver District Office staff will provide information about the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act and the medical benefits available under the program.

Investigation findings: The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Toledo Area Office cited the paperboard packaging plant for seven serious safety violations.

OSHA opened an inspection of the Norwalk plant after receiving a complaint alleging unsafe working conditions that exposed workers to amputation and other hazards.

MCCOMB, Ohio — A 41-year-old worker cleaning product waste from a factory floor suffered severe scalp injuries and multiple lacerations when a machine caught her hairnet, resulting in her hospitalization for four days. This is the third serious injury involving machine hazards reported this year by Hearthside Food Solutions LLC, which bakes cookies and crackers for national brands.
