U.S. Department of Labor to Offer Compliance Assistance Training for Employers Participating in H-2A and H-2B Visa Certification, July 26

LAFAYETTE, LA – On July 26, 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) will hold a compliance seminar in Lafayette, Louisiana. The seminar will offer area employers, company managers, agents, human resources professionals, and other interested parties a chance to hear from, and speak directly with representatives from federal and state agencies and other stakeholders that support key workplace issues regarding H-2A and H-2B Foreign Labor Certification Program.

The seminar offers a one-stop training opportunity for attendees to better understand H-2A and H-2B worker visa programs, including wages, recordkeeping, safety and health, housing and transportation, and worksite enforcement. In addition to Wage and Hour Division officials, representatives are scheduled to attend from the Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration; the U.S. Department of Justice’s Immigrant and Employee Rights Section; the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Worksite Enforcement; the Louisiana Workforce Commission; the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation; the American Sugar Cane League of the U.S.A; and from South Louisiana Community College.
