U.S. Department of Labor to Host Webinar for Medical Professionals, Others Providing Care for Current and Former Nuclear Production Workers

WASHINGTON, DC The U.S. Department of Labor will host a webinar for medical professionals and other stakeholders who provide care for current and former workers eligible for benefits administered by the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs’ Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC).

The webinar will provide updates on recent program actions and initiatives related to telemedicine, Procedure Manual updates, a demonstration of the division’s website, and an overview of employee tools and resources during telework.

OWCP administers the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act, which provides lump-sum compensation and medical benefits to current and former Department of Energy workers (or their contractors and subcontractors) whose illness results from work at nuclear weapons production facility. Illnesses covered include radiation-induced cancer, chronic beryllium disease, beryllium sensitivity, chronic silicosis, and any illness due to toxic substance exposure. Survivors of eligible employees may also be entitled to compensation.

To date, eligible claimants have received more than $17.9 billion in compensation and medical benefits. For more information about the upcoming webinar, or to submit questions in advance, please email DEEOIC-Outreach@dol.gov. This event is open to the public and does not require pre-registration.
