U.S. Department of Labor to Host Event for Current and Former Nuclear Weapons Workers in Harrison and Dublin, Ohio
COLUMBUS, OH – The U.S. Department of Labor will host two town hall meetings to discuss the benefits available to current and former nuclear weapons workers from covered facilities, and their families, under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act.
The meetings will be held June 19, 2019, in Harrison, Ohio, and June 20, 2019, in Dublin, Ohio. Representatives from the Department and from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health will present information on the program, help individuals file new claims, and provide status updates on existing claims.
Covered facilities close to Harrison and Dublin include:
- Alba Craft – also known as Alba Craft Shop, Alba Craft Laboratories, and Albaugh;
- Associated Aircraft Tool and Manufacturing Co. – also known as Force Control Industries;
- Battelle Laboratories – West Jefferson and King Avenue – also known as Battelle Memorial Institute, Battelle Columbus Laboratories, and West Jefferson Plutonium Facilities;
- Cincinnati Milling Machine Co. – also known as Cincinnati Milacron Inc.;
- Feed Materials Production Center – also known as Fernald and Fernald Environmental Management Project;
- General Electric Company (Ohio) – also known as GE Evandale, GE Cincinnati, GE Lockland, and Air Force Plant 36;

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act provides lump-sum compensation and medical benefits to current and former nuclear weapons workers whose illness is the result of working in the nuclear weapons industry. The program has paid more than $1.2 billion in compensation and medical benefits to 10,192 claimants living in Ohio, and more than $16 billion nationwide.
