Background: The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and organizations representing many of Ohio’s craft brewers have renewed their alliance to improve workplace safety in the industry. The original alliance was signed in October 2018 and renewed in December 2020.
The alliance partners commit to continuing their development of effective safety and health training and education programs for brewery employees of all levels and includes shared access and use of existing Ohio Craft Brewers Alliance web-based training programs for brewery processes such as grain handling, mashing, transfer and boiling, whirlpool and cooling, fermentation cleaning and sanitizing as well as cellaring, bottling and use of powered industrial trucks. The alliance also includes outreach training and education delivered during the annual Ohio Craft Brewers Association Conference and at other related events.
Participants will continue to share information on OSHA campaigns to encourage workplace safety and will facilitate understanding of the rights of workers and the responsibilities of employers under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
The OSHA Alliance Program enables organizations to enter voluntarily into a cooperative relationship to raise awareness of OSHA’s initiatives, outreach, communications, training and education.
