U.S. Department of Labor and Associated General Contractors Renew Alliance to Promote Safety and Health in the Rio Grande Valley
DALLAS, TX – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) have renewed an alliance to help protect construction industry employees in the Rio Grande Valley.
The three-year alliance renewal will address falls, struck-by, electrical, and trenching and excavation hazards. The alliance will continue to provide outreach, increase training opportunities, and focus on sharing information about OSHA's enforcement initiatives, safety and health regulations, and efforts to reduce injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.
AGC credits the alliance for promoting dialogue between employers and OSHA, and helping to increase awareness of jobsite hazards in the Rio Grande Valley's construction industry.
The OSHA Alliance Program fosters collaborative relationships with groups committed to worker safety and health. Alliance partners help OSHA reach targeted audiences, such as employers and workers in high-hazard industries, giving them better access to workplace safety and health tools and information.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees.
