U.S. Department of Labor and Texas-Based Builder Partner to Promote Workplace Safety During Northwest D.C. Construction Project

WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Harvey Cleary Builders of Houston, Texas, have established a strategic partnership to promote workplace safety and educate workers on hazards during a construction project in the District of Columbia.

The partnership seeks to promote workplace safety, control or eliminate serious hazards, and establish effective safety and health programs. Located at 1900 N St. N.W., the project -scheduled for completion in 2019 - includes demolishing existing structures, and building a 275,000-square-foot office building and a 100,000-square-foot underground garage.

Through its Strategic Partnership Program, OSHA works with employers, employees, professional and trade associations, labor organizations, and other interested stakeholders to establish specific goals, strategies, and performance measures to improve worker safety and health.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to help ensure these conditions for America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education, and assistance.
