OSHA Recognizes Workers’ Memorial Day

Renews commitment to making safety a priority

ATLANTA – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration will recognize Workers’ Memorial Day on April 28 at 9 a.m. CDT by participating in a training event at the Alabama Workforce Training Facility in Birmingham, Alabama.

American workers are the backbone of our nation’s prosperity and a focal point of President Trump’s “America First” agenda. With the recent increased growth in manufacturing, mining and construction industries, OSHA renews its commitment to making safety a priority through education, training and collaboration with American workers, businesses and state partners.

During the event, OSHA will team with Joint Associated Builders & Contractors-Birmingham Chapter, Alabama Industrial Development Training/Alabama Workforce Training Center, the University of Alabama and Safe State to honor those who have been injured or lost their lives in the workplace, helping to support and strengthen our nation.

OSHA will inform the youth enrolled in the Academy of Craft Training, a public/private partnership between the construction industry and the State of Alabama’s K-12 education system, on fatalities reported in the area. The information will reflect OSHA’s “Focus Four” and how it impacts youth who are currently receiving construction training, honoring past workplace fatalities by emphasizing a strong commitment to safety.
