Delaware county roofing contractor continues to expose workers to fall hazards, most recently at Conshohocken site
Employer name: DDP Roofing Services Inc., at 20 Conchester Road in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania
Inspection site: Commercial construction project at 225 Washington St. in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania
Citations issued: On Feb. 1, 2016, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued citations for one repeat and one serious safety violations.
Investigation findings: DDP failed to provide fall protection equipment and methods, resulting in the repeat violation. The company has been cited eight times since 2008 for similar hazards.
The serious violation involved no provided personal protective equipment during the use of pneumatically powered nail guns.
Proposed penalties: $41,580
Quote: “DDP Roofing Services has been cited multiple times previously for failing to provide fall protection, and for exposing employees to other fall-related hazards at worksites in the greater Philadelphia metro area, Maryland and New Jersey. By failing to ensure its employees have and use fall and other safety protections to reduce the potential hazards commonly found in commercial construction work, DDP Roofing Services does not make worker safety a priority. That has to change,” said Jean Kulp, director of OSHA’s Allentown Area Office.
