Statement of US Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis on death of Agustin Bobby Salcedo

SAN FRANCISCO – U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis today issued the following statement regarding the death of Agustin "Bobby" Salcedo:

"I want to express my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Agustin 'Bobby' Salcedo. The untimely and senseless death of this young Latino leader touches many lives in El Monte and the greater Los Angeles area.

"His leadership as an assistant principal at El Monte High School, and as a board member of the El Monte City School District, will be deeply missed. He was not only a caring, giving, and compassionate individual, he was a rising star and leader in the Latino community.

"We mourn the tragic loss of this inspirational young man, but we must honor his life, his work, and his commitment to make the world a better place for future generations."
